HOW DO THE STABILIZED MARITIME ANTENNAS WORK?

Satellite communications maritime antennas are mounted on a motorized structure that allows its automatic movement along three axes to compensate the yaw, pitch and roll of the vessel.

• The system is guided by an Antenna Control Unit (ACU) that must know the orbital position of the satellite (or satellites) that it must be pointed to.
• The ACU carries out a continuous tracking of the geographic location of the satellite and of the vessel itself thanks to a system that has a built-in GPS, inclinometers, accelerometers and a signal power meter.
• The controller very accurately drives the motors of the antenna, thus permanently pointing it to the satellite even in the worst conditions like a storm.
